I would also re comment to add yogurt and Lyo Sun capsules and also minimize the sugar (even from fruits) in your diet. The dose of Asacol that you are taking is so small that I am afraid with all the foods that you are adding this is just too much for your intestine at this point as you are not healed. I would also remove pepper from your diet ( no spices at this point). Eat everything fresh ( no more that 48 hours old), no fry food, made from scratch chicken soup could help a lot to heal and liver ( for the iron). I'm having alot of trouble identifying what foods I am reacting to right now. I think the problem is that I am weening off my medicine too quickyl, but I have no choice in that matter. So, as i'm weening off the meds i'm also trying to introduce new foods one at a time. It seems like i'm reacting to everything because i'm getting progressively worse and not better no matter what I take out or add in as far as new foods. I'm eating plain beef and plain chicken from the crock pot with pepper and salt. Sometimes I add marjoram but very little. I am also eating ripe avocado and just yesterday tried eating some well cooked beets with plain hamburger for iron. In the time I was doing good on SCD and was taking only a little but of medicine I could tolerate almond flour well, steamed carrots, juices, apple cider, raisins, and a bunch of other things. I have cut all that out because I don't want to make things worse than they already are. I'm worried about losing too much weight. I'm already at a lower weight than I was when I wrestled in high school, and I had to run around with a plastic bag around my body to lose that weight!Should I eat the foods I could tolerate before to try and gain some weight back?my biggest concerns right now are blood loss since i'm starting to get pale, and weight.Suggestions for moving forward from here? I took the yogurt out to see if that was my problem but I don't think so anymore, so i'll add that back in.I've been eating the livers from the chickens that I buy. Is beef liver just as good? I know people have done that, but to me, the time to try that is when you are stable, not when you are getting worse. It hate that you have to decrease the Asacol, which seems to have worked. I know of drug companies that have made arrangements for people who have had difficulty buying meds. The recent recession has left a lot of people without health insurance. I know that doctors are aware of this and don't want their patients to stop their medication. Maybe your doctor has some drug samples or can switch you to another medication? Is there a free clinic in your area or relatives that can help? I know in the past that you have responded to prednisone, which is not very expensive.I hope you can get some medication. I'm concerned that by saving money on Asacol while you are not doing well, that you may end up feeling worse which is a lot more expensive ( and miserable ) to fix in the long run. Staying on SCD in the long run will help, but losing weight and blood will not help you heal at the moment. I have a ton I would be happy to donate to you from when I stopped it last year. It's my own fault i'm so stubborn with not wanting to take medicine, and i'm even more stubborn when it comes to asking people for help. I'm going to call the doc once they are open tomorrow and get more prednisone so I have something to get me through. It's less than $10.00 so that should be ok for now. Gotta do what we gotta do I guess when it comes to medicine. Then I plan on re-filling all the scripts in the beginning of april once the insurance kicks in and go from there. I will be much more careful about weening off the meds this time. It gave me back my life for ~3 years -- had a great time. I doubt if there are serious side-effects, if you monitor your liver function. People don't like it because it is a long term immuno-suppressant. Immuno- suppression may be medical conventional wisdom in the West at this point, but it seems like a really stupid way of trying to promote someone's long term health. It's when your immune system is working well, full out, that you are the healthiest. This is why many of us onlist like the idea of LDN, which does precisely that. On another note, I used 6MP for several years, before I had a clue what I was doing with my health, and it didn't seem to do a bit of good for me - at the most, it kept me from getting worse (which I was never sure), but didn't make me better.
