Guest guest
hi: I'm a 33 year old female scheduled to have orthognathic surgery in June. I've been going through the braces thing for just over a year now and we finally scheduled the surgery date today. I'm freaking out though b/c it sounds very gnarly and I'm not 100% sure I need to do it. What is the recovery like? How long should I have someone stay with me? What kinds of things will I need help with?? Do those of you who have had this procedure have any regrets??? Thanks for whatever feedback you are able to provide. Guest guest
Hello there, I had surgery five months ago. It is really hard the first couple days after surgery because it is hard to eat. But that will pass quickly as long as you are not wired shut. (I wasn't) Regrets, I don't know yet. I waited 27 years to have this surgery and all went really well. Not to scare you or anything, but just to let you know, it is still hard to chew crunchy foods (if I chew a lot, my jaw gets tired and I get a headache) and I am still numb in the chin area. However, the OS says that will pass. Time will tell. But the good thing is that the braces are coming off soon and my teeth are now in alignment the way they are supposed to be. I Take care and good luck. Shauna > > hi: > I'm a 33 year old female scheduled to have orthognathic surgery in > June.
