Well, I have found an interesting sounding one and want to ask about a substitution. This is from an old Woman's Day encyclopedia of cooking, 1966. Volume 6, page 939 Soowar Ka Gosht Vindaloo (Sour Pork Curry) 2 lbs lean pork, cut into 3/4 inch cubes 1/2 cup vinegar 4 medium onions, chopped 1 tablespoon minced ginger (or 1.5 teaspons powdered) 1 tablespoon mustard seed 1 teaspoon ground turmeric 1/2 teaspoon cayenne 1/4 cup oil 1 cup chicken broth 1 cauliflower (instead of Illegal: 6 potatoes) marinate meat in vinegar, onions, garlic and seasonings for at least 2 hours. Place in casserole with oil and broth. Cook over medium heat for 30 minutes. Add cauliflower (potatoes) and cook covered, another 30 minutes until everything is well done and tender. Add more broth if necessary. serves 6 OK, obviously we need something else besides the potatoes so that's why I thought of cauliflower. But I haven't tried it yet. I need a few opinions on whether this would work, cooking-wise, and also flavor-wise. I think the basic stew sounds delicious though for myself I'd have to leave a couple of seasonings off.
