hi everyone. I have been mostly reading everyone's posts on this

forum. I am finally going to dive into getting my teeth fixed. I have

a Class III Maloclussion. My lower jaw is longer than my upper jaw and

slightly to the right. My upper jaw is aligned slightly toward the

left. I have always had problems w/ my bite and just never really had

the chance to fix my teeth until now. I also just learned that if I

only did this when I was younger (my dad was in the Navy and under

Tricare here in Seattle), they would have covered jaw surgery 100%.

Now that I realize this now (I'm only 25), I wish I would have gotten

this done sooner. All of my jaw problems will most likely require me

to get both upper and lower jaw surgery.

I just had my ortho and oral surgery consult done. I get my braces on

April 11th. Then I need to get my wisdom teeth out. I know that I'll

have to wear braces for about a year before getting the jaw surgery,

but I also just found out that my insurance (KPS) does not cover jaw

surgery (it is clearly stated in the contract that it is excluded). So

I will have to pay out of pocket!

My OS is going to be Dr. Feldman. Has anyone on this board ever had

any experience w/ him? To those of you who have, any feedback about

him at all? I know that Dr. Feldman primarily works in the Seattle

area, and has a deal w/ Swedish Hospital w/ jaw surgery. He gave me a

" rough " estimate that if I only had lower jaw surgery done, the total

costs (including anesthesia, his fees, hospital fees, etc) would be

around $6000. If I went w/ both lower and upper jaw surger, total cost

would be around $9000. I'm kind of bummed out that my insurance will

not pay this surgery. So I'll have to either save up my money or see

if I can take out a loan.

Anyway, I just wanted to introduce myself to this board and say hi. I

have enjoyed reading everyone's posts.

Take care!
