Guest guest
I am so hungry but I must admit it is a " just a splint in my mouth " hungry and not an " I've been wired shut for 6 weeks " hungry. I just ate a family sized mashed potatoes and gravy and was still hungry so scoured the fridge for something soft and settled on another family sized mashed potatoes and gravy and then maybe 4 snack pack chocolate pudding and a glass of whole milk. You'd think I would be packing on the pounds after two weeks of cheesecake icecream, potatoes and gravy, pudding and whole milk but my clothes still fall off and I still feel immaciated. But then again I didn't weigh 103 when I was born LOL kidding. I must admit the potaoes and gravy are DELICIOUS! Last night I made spagetti and hommade meatballs for my family. I poured Spagetti sauce all over my mashed potatoes and mashed a meatball up in them with melted chadder cheese. Mmmmmit was so good! Guest guest
eewww... I hate cheese. I think mashed potatoes and gravy make up the base of most of my meals though. Just add some blended, spiced meat and you've got a full meal! For a chicken meal, I add mashed potatoes and chicken sauce (with some of the bouillon it was baked in). For ham, I add mashed potatoes and cream of corn. For meatballs, I add mashed potatoes and whatever sauce the meatballs were cooked in. For shephard's pie.. well, just blend it. Tonight I had rice, chicken, chicken, broth, carrots, and peas all blended into a creamy soup. I don't blend the potatoes though - I add those afterwards. Guest guest
Yann, More power to ya. Even after my 5th week of being wired at my very hungriest I couldn't blend or puree my food and drink it. The first 3 weeks I tried and found it disgusting. I couldn't eat anything that wouldn't freely flow through a syringe the entire time. I had a physical and mental block. I had dizzy spells, stomach aches, blackouts and begged to be taken to the hospital for an IV. I only wish I could have been as strong willed with such a balanced liquid diet. The truth is I don't think I would have made day 39. Period. You sound like you are having a very positive very healthy recovery. That is great. I hope you inspire more to be just as healthy. Jane ps. I couldn't LIVE without cheese! I'd eat it on anything! > > > > I am so hungry but I must admit it is a " just a splint in my > mouth " > > hungry and not an " I've been wired shut for 6 weeks " hungry. Guest guest
I know the feeling about the IV. I had someone drive me to emergency at 4am of day 4. I hadn't had much sleep since returning home from surgery and just wanted to be plugged into an IV again - I was so angry about having been sent home a day after surgery. The pain, inability to breathe much, and nausea were having their way. After a 2-3 hour visit, I came back with a bottle of Lorazepan. I still think they should keep us at the hospital for the first 4 days to ensure we get the required 2 litres of fluids per day and proper nutrients. I ordered zip 'n' squeeze products 5 days before surgery, but only received the kit a few days ago even with rush delivery, which is now useless and wasted money. It sounds like you're eating pretty well - are you having meal supplements/replacements in addition to your potatoes? I find chocolate slimfast to be the best-tasting, and it comes with 12g of protein and lots of other good stuff.
