Congratulations on the SCD success and on the pregnancy!!!!!

I agree with you on the "almond flour pizza just doesn't do it for me"!

I've heard that Karianne's Stage 2 pizza is good. I haven't tried it but it's at

http://www.plener.no/SCDpizza.htm

The very simple pizza crust that I've used over and over is...

Pizza

1 egg3 tbsp almond flouroregano1 tbsp olive oilpinch baking soda and salt Makes one small pizza dough round. Spread it in a circle on a piece of parchment and bake for 10 minutes at 350 F. Then top with homemade pizza sauce (tomato juice boiled down with garlic and onions, you can strain out, oregano, sea salt, pepper, parsely, etc...) plus whatever toppings you tolerate and put it under the broiler for a few minutes.

(tip... the parchment paper is a must for this one!)

>> Hi i've been on scd for a bit over 5 months and my numbers are thank god looking great, the Dr. actually mentioned that the diet it working remarkably well!!! I'm not on any meds and have just this year been diagnosed with CD. Anyway, I was actually planning on asking my Dr. if it was safe to get pregnant (this isn't my first) and before I had the chance to even ask him I found out I was!!! Anyway, he said I should be fine because after he palpated my stomach and looked at my blood work he was very pleased and everything was normal! Anyway, I'm very apprehensive, I've had great pregnancies in the past but then again, I wasn't diagnosed with CD at the time.> > What I want to know is I'm craving carbs like bread and pizza

and the almond flour pizza just doesn't do it for me...anyone have any ideas? I'm going crazy and I refuse to cheat but I need a good piece of bread. Anyone with good suggestions? Thanx Becky>

The best pizza dough is the one in Raman Prasad's book. That one's actually not bad. MaraCongratulations on the SCD success and on the pregnancy!!!!! Congratulations! Hope its a very healthy and uneventful pregnancy for you. And

great news about your medical results - that must have been the most reassuring

news.

I know just what you mean about craving carbs!!! I had THE worst carb cravings

during my first trimester - all I really wanted was a battered deep fried Big

Mac (that's about the junkiest thing I could imagine, and it seemed that was

what my body wanted, even though I could never in my life have imagined wanting

to actually be in the same room as such a thing, let alone wanting to eat it.)

Somehow, somehow, I never gave in to any illegals. I was nauseous all the time

and didn't want to eat, and the only thing that made the nausea better was to

eat. I also found that if I was a little more full, then it was a little easier

to live with the cravings, so maybe eating smaller amounts more often might also

help.

Karianne's bread recipe looks very interesting (and I want to try it very soon

too). I have also recently made some recipes from Elana's Pantry

(www.elanaspantry.com) - specifically the Simple Bread, and found that this is a

very satisfying carby experience. I've also tried the recipes for Hamantaschen

and the Sesame Truffles, both of which are very satisfying. If you use the

bread in ways that you enjoyed normal bread pre-SCD, such as grilled cheese

sandwiches, peanut butter and jam sandwiches, etc, maybe the familiar approach

will be enough to tide you over a few tempting weeks.

Good luck with your pregnancy, and let us know how you get on.
