Guest guest
hi I am from land also and although i haven't had surgery yet i am scheduled for july 19, 2004. just 16 days away. i'm sorry you're not getting the support you need right now. so many people don't understand about this being a lifestyle change, not just " the easy way out " . i have had a few people think the same about me doing it. i agree with you, this will be harder than other " diets " in alot of ways. we will have alot of mental issues to deal with besides the change in eating habits. i have done every diet known to man and been succesful for awhile, always to gain it back plus some. you just have to remember this is for you and no one else. i know it isn't the same but you'll find lots of support here. there are a lot of great people here that can relate to anything that comes up and will be happy to support you in your decision. feel free to email me off site or im me at easternshoreaquarian68 on yahoo. Guest guest
I know this may be a cop-out but none of my friends know about my surgery. I guess because I felt like such a failure on diets. Most of them do the Carb thing and think its great but to tell you the truth I havent seen any drastic results. My sister is pre op and must go on a diet for 6 mths per her insurance. We were to have the surgery done together but she got shot down. She insisted that I go ahead. I was going to back out the day of surgery and she told me that if she had to make a trip to the hospital it was going to be pretty....LOL so I listened to Big Sis and glad I did. My sister, daughters and boyfriend are the only ones who know what I did. I was able to get the surgery 5 weeks after I had a 22 lb tera-toma tumor removed along with my 1 overy and then on top of it all they found out I needed my gall bladder out. So I was still recovering from 1st surgery going into the next. On top of it all (Sorry Guys) I got my period 2 days after GBP. I thought I was in pure He11. But I am survivng one day at at a time. Guest guest
Tammy, It's not a cop-out that only a selected few knew. It's your decision on who you tell and don't tell. Congratulations on your decision and I wish you lots of luck. I wish your sister luck in getting hers too. This surgery is a major decision for each of us to take and I'm proud of all of us WLS's that have taken that step to a better healthier life. I wasn't able to lose weight on my own and I felt there was no other option for me. I am 10-1/2 weeks post-op and even though I had a set back I do NOT regret one minute of my decision. In the beginning I didn't tell too many people either. Now I'm telling everyone that shows an interest. I'm proud of what I've done, it took courage to do it and it will take hard work on my part to keep up my 40% of the bargain. My problem is not being able to eat enough....lol. Never ever thought I'd say that one...lol. Laurette 4/23/04 open RNY 309/290/253/
Guest guest
Hi Tammy Where in PA are you from? I'm from near Pittsburgh. I WANT TO GO TO HERSHEY PARK TOO ! I had my GBS Jan 15, 2004. I also had hernia surgery done at that time. And again had another hernia surgery 3 weeks later. So I got off to a slow and painful start. BUT all is well now. I have lost 82 lbs. AND I FEEL TERRIFIC ! Yes I'm yelling!
Guest guest
I forgot to sign that last message. Sorry. But I had wanted to tell you Tammy, I told very few people what I was doing. I told them about the hernia surgery, but not the GBP. I figured it this way. If this really worked. people would notice something changing without expecting it. Do you know what I mean? And people have definately noticed! That is the ones that recognized me! That is the most fun! Leaving people standing there with their mouths hanging open when they realize, IT'S ME!!!!! Anyhow good luck and prayers to everyone waiting for their chance to become a loser! I know I don't post much, but I read everything! Have a great day everyone Joyce 268/186/145 01/15/
Guest guest
hi I am so glad that you are in land. I am about 10 minutes from the Bay Bridge in Arnold. Where are you? Who is your doctor/surgeron? I ask because I am going to Salsibury--Dr. Sofronski --for surgery and was wondering if we have the same doc. > hi > I am from land also and although i haven't had surgery yet i am scheduled for july 19, 2004. just 16 days away. i'm sorry you're not getting the support you need right now. so many people don't understand about this being a lifestyle change, not just " the easy way out " . i have had a few people think the same about me doing it. i agree with you, this will be harder than other " diets " in alot of ways. we will have alot of mental issues to deal with besides the change in eating habits. i have done every diet known to man and been succesful for awhile, always to gain it back plus some. you just have to remember this is for you and no one else. i know it isn't the same but you'll find lots of support here. there are a lot of great people here that can relate to anything that comes up and will be happy to support you in your decision. feel free to email me off site or im me at easternshoreaquarian68 on yahoo. > Good Luck to you > > gale in maryland > open rny july 19, 2004 > surgery- August 17 > > > > Hello everybody.
