Guest guest
i would think that if we just stayed on the foods we're allowed and are good for us we wouldn't need to be on an Atkins or Southbeach diet. Our portions is what got is into trouble before, as well as the sugars and carbs. If we stay on a high protein low carb diet we should be fine. am i that wrong in my thinking? laurette 4/23/04 open rny 309/290/249/
Guest guest
I loosely try to follow a low carb lifestyle anyway. You can always follow Atkins but not incorporate fried foods etc. You will find that plateaus come more frequently now but if you up your exercise and protein drinks and lower your sugar and carbs you will again start to lose once your body is ready to let go again. I have been on a few such plateaus myself so far. That is just the way my body loses weight I guess Colleen Lap-RNY 11/03/03 315/196/145-ish > Can anyone Help > I had the surgery over a year a go and My weight is starting to Plateau I was > wondering if anyone know if we can diet, Particullary the Atkins diet. Guest guest
If you're eating sweets and fried food it may be reversing because of non compliance with the rules that go along with this surgery. What meal sizes are you eating? Besides the fact that a post RNY diet IS almost like an Atkins in a way to begin with only less food and more healthy protein sources... > Can anyone Help > I had the surgery over a year a go and My weight is starting to Plateau I was > wondering if anyone know if we can diet, Particullary the Atkins diet. Guest guest
South Beach is a more realistic way to live, Atkins doesn't focus enough on fat, solely on carbs, but focusing on reducing carbs (and only having whole grains when you do have them) and cutting back on fat and sugar is a winning combination. II did Atkins and S. Beach before and still do S. Beach since surgery. You can plateau on any diet, just keeping with it, exercising and staying positive are the best things. Good luck ! Guest guest
Nope, and for the most part that's South Beach , funny thing about it. Main thing is healthy choices, focus on protein and when you do choose carbs choose healthy ones. I make a South Beach cheesecake with reduced fat ricotta cheese and let me tell you I'm missing nothing! Not to mention all of the healthy choices available at restaurants today. I even heard on the radio this morning that vending machine companies are coming up with healthy alternatives.
