Guest guest
, My name is Jennfer, had my surgery when I was 20 and was 300 lbs. It has been a year latter and I am at 193. it is still a process but considering... it is very worth it I would recomend it to you but only if your ready because it is a big change in you lifestlye especially if your not the active exercise person (like me) I hate to exercise but you have to to keep the weight from plateauing. It's easy in a sence when you first have the surgery because many foods you are not able to eat bcause they make you sick and therefore dont want to, but I notice as the time goes by eating again becomes easier and easier and having that will power to still say no is the hardest because even though your stomach only consumes so little you are now able to eat more various foods that shold not be in the diet (and guess what? they dont make you sick anymore.) Anyways the surgery is a great tool to helping you acheive the weight loss that you are looking for but remember the key word TOOL. The rest is up to you. About the horror stories you've heard... well thats a risk that you are willing to take. I had some problems when I was in the hospital. I developed a High fever and was really sick. they had to take me back in to surgery 3 days after the first to make sure that I did not have a leak due to the stiches I was in the hospital for 6 days it was alful then getting out of the hospital was worse since I was still sick and I was in alot of pain from them going back in my stomic throught the prior incisions. After about a month in a half everything started getting better and then your focus on your new diet. I was fine from the surgery and it turned out that I developed Herpes due to the extremely stressful time and that is what caused my fever and the extreme sickness. But everyone is different. There were other people in the hospital that had the surgery the same day as me and they were fine. 3 days latter they were being sent home and they felt great. everyone is different dont worry so much about the horror stories. Well hope I did not bore you and I hope that my advice and experience have helped you out a little. if you have any questions about anything else just write me . Good luck PS I had Blue Cross PPO and My first consultation was december 11th 2002 and after all the insurance and approval went through I had my surgery March 17 2003 So that was pretty fast. about 4 months (maybe because I deffinatly considered a canidate for medical reasons) > Hello Everyone, > > My name is . Guest guest
That was a wonderful response to her. I just want to add that I see, even here, that too many people think they can simply go into an operating room and wake and everything is easy. It sounds like many people believe they can have the surgery and continue to eat and not exercise and they will be magically smaller and healthier. It simply is not the case and there IS no magical cure like that I would have gotten into THAT line... > > Hello Everyone, > > > > My name is . I am 20 years old and I am from Pittsburgh. Guest guest
, There are 2237 members here, and not too may report disasterous results. A few had a rough few days to start, but I think the surgery goes pretty smoothly for the majority of us. There is always going to be risks with any surgery. My take is I was going to die from diabetes or a heart attack decreasing my life span, so this surgery was going to save my life. My advice is to read everything. Listen to what the doctors say, ask alot of questions. The answer if this surgery is right for you will reveal itself. Good luck, Janet > Hello Everyone, > > My name is .
