Guest guest
Hello everybody, I have a strange dilemna that I thought someone here could help with. I have been on disability since before more surgery (short term w/company and eventually with Social Security). I am thinking it is time to go back to work. I am a little concerned about loosing my benefits if I go back to work. I understand that there is a " trial period " that could last up to 9 months without effecting my disability. I am a little afraid to check with the Social Security Administration in case it takes me a while to find a job. I am also not sure that I can work more then 20 hours a week right now. I am also concerned that it will take me forever to find a job with the job market the way it is right now and the fact that I have to rely on the lousy bus system here in Denton. I know this sounds crazy but usually when I have had a fear of success it is because of my eating. You know, fear that the next diet will not work, etc. I don't ever remember being afraid to look for a job before. Now I have had a fear of finding one but never for looking for one. Has anybody gone through this before? How did you get over the fear and start looking for a job? Lori, I was out of work for over three years when I just recently went back to work (three months ago). I will be honest with you, I had a tough time finding work. Where I live, nobody wanted to hire someone like me who had been out of work for over three years. I was honest with them, telling them that I was sick and could not work (when they asked me why I was not working). My advice to you is, do research on-line to find out the facts and not tell the Social Security Administration that you are looking. Do not accept anything that seems too hard on your emotions and body and keep looking until you find something that you are actually excited about. I hope this helps, kathy ************************** " Remember.......... Never give-up!!!! Never surrender!!!! "
