Guest guest
Meli Looks like others have given you some suggestions on your first question. My body doesn’t tolerate most of the intro. diet foods, so I substitute others that are the easiest for my digestion to cope with. As to your second question. Including dairy in your intro. diet might be problematic, depending on your symptoms. In a general way, we don’t take supplements or have yogurt during the 2 or 3 days we’re on the intro. diet. DCCC can be used in the cheesecake recipe, if your body tolerates it (mine doesn’t), and the cheesecake is permitted during the intro. diet. But not everyone tolerates it. Depends on your symptoms. As soon as you come off the intro. diet, though, you want to try introducing the 24-hour yogurt fairly soon, even if it’s only a teaspoon once a day. Most of the lactose has been removed by the longer fermentation, so you’ll just get the probiotic benefits and none of the sugars to feed candida. You want to continually replenish your beneficial bacteria levels as you kill off the candida, so the sooner you can get regular amounts of yogurt or a legal Acidophilus or S. Boulardii supplement, the better. Some fruits can be used in moderation, even if you’re dealing with candida. Just have a small serving of a cooked or juiced fruit every other day or two. Stick to the least-sweet fruits. There are some important nutrients in fruit. You just need to limit the amount of sugar if you’re dealing with candida. Honey tends to cause problems, though, so it is wise to avoid it until you feel your candida levels are under control again. Keep asking questions. There is a lot of information to absorb. Kim M. My assumption is that they are allowed on the diet because they are virtually free of lactose and therefore being free of lactose it would mean that there's nothing there for the yeast to feed on and so I should be ok eating them on the intro diet...? I plan on staying away from fruit and honey for the time being until the candida issue has been cleared up, it's just this dairy question which I'm unsure about.
