Guest guest
A one visit doctor gave me samples to take that to 'bulk up' and it nearly killed me. This was pre-SCD. Seriously--try minute amounts just in case. Do you have UC or Crohns? Doesn't mean it will bother you but just fyi. Have you tried almond flour? It could just be me but that seems to have some effect. Miralax is great imho. Debbie 40 cd My GI wants me to start taking Citrucel and Miralax to help with C. Citrucel Orange has maltodextrin and the sugar-free kind has aspartame and what I presume is a smaller amount of maltrodextrin.Anyone found a methylcellulose product like this without the illegals? I see that Amazon.com sells just bagged methylcellulose but am not sure how much I would use, or if I should. BTW, he said my colon looked so good during the last colonoscopy, that he just wants to try this.I'd like it to stay that way :>)--
Guest guest
I have mild Crohns--at least for the last 5 years. I'm not on any meds. I eat a serving or two of almond flour daily and even with prune juice and cooked veggies, it's not enough fiber. I'm with you, though. I was cautiously going to try a small amount of the sugar free Citrucel and see how it goes. Another thing I might try is just the Miralax and prune juice--or maybe a few stewed prunes-- and see if that works. I'm trying to stop C and tiny amounts of B. -- A one visit doctor gave me samples to take that to 'bulk up' and it nearly killed me. This was pre-SCD. Seriously--try minute amounts just in case. Guest guest
I would choose to skip the Citrucel and just use Miralax. But that’s me. I’ve been using Miralax for six years now, as I have poor digestive motility. I tried the methylcellulose option (and psyllium husks) before I started SCD and it made things significantly worse for me. Seems to me these ingredients would just aggravate the intestinal walls, and delay the healing process, or possibly do some long-term damage. I feel that SCD foods provide plenty of bulk and fiber, even if you can’t eat raw foods as yet. At least that has been my experience, and I can’t even eat much fiber because of my upper GI disorders. As long as I continue to use Miralax, I do well constipation-wise. But that’s my choice. If you decide to give Citrucel a try, start slowly and cautiously. Kim M. Guest guest
Thanks, Kim.Right now, I'm trying the Miralax only, with some prune juice later in the day. I'm going to see how that works first.I would definitely try a small bit of Citrucel at a time if I needed it. --

They work wonders for a lot of people. As does reasonably strong black coffee for some people. You should also know that bananas have the opposite effect for many people. So if you're eating bananas every day they could well be contributing to your constipation.n-- Now available.
