This is going to be a contreversial post, I know it. Here we are

worrying about having too much weight,me included. I lived overseas

for 13 years where people didn't even have enough to eat. You would

think that would have taught me. But instead when I returned to the

states everything was in such abundance, I turned into a glutton. I

am really ashamed.

Ya know, Vicki, after I posted about that new diet drug, someone

emailed me privately asking if I thought it would help with head

hunger. Well, hell no! Virtually every minute of every day, we're

bombarded with food commercials, magazine ads and billboards...how

can we not have head hunger and, consequesntly, weight gain or

gluttony? Our psyches are being invaded, and we're not even aware of

the head job being done to and on us!

As a current or former morbidly obese group, we, as a whole, tend to

have more self control or, dare I say it??? WILLPOWER than the

general population could ever hope to have. But, because of societal

prejudices, we always blame ourselves for a lack of THAT! I'm not

saying that we have absolutely no control over what goes into our

mouths, just that Madison Avenue is doing everything in its power to

help us lose that control. We're fighting those demons from inside

and outside...we should applaud ourselves for whatever successes we

have.

Oh my goodness, I don't know about you but as a child I was being told about the

starving children around the world. I had to finish everything on my plate or

they would starve to death. I truly believe I was saving lives by overeating

(NOT). Unless you have actually done harm to someone, skip the shame. You are

a good person.
