So I was getting myself all worked about being wired shut also. Will you be wired for sure? I had my surgery last Tues. and I have has a few mini attacks, This sounds silly but when I feel one coming on I stomp my foot and say no no no. So instead of a panic attack I have a tantrum. It's working for me. Good luck tomorrow. It's not as bad as you/me have made it in our heads. (wink) Michele
Guest guest
Carol, the clock will still click, the sun will still rise and set like it does every day. No worries, you will be just fine. They are wiring your jaw shut not your wind pipe. I had my surgery last Wedenesday and it really is not all that bad. In fact it can be comical when you get to the point where you forget your jaw is wired and you go to wet your lips and things like that and it's like " Oh Yeah Dummy you can't do that " . Guest guest
Michele, I'm 100% sure that I'll be wired for 2 months. My Surgeon says if all goes well he'll unwire me as much as two days early! What a guy! If you can do it - being claustrophobia and a mouth breather - then I think I can too. And I like your idea of just telling the panic attack NO. I'm a Mom ... I know NO. I can do that. Thanks so much, Carol PS ... By the way, what kind of surgery did you have last Tuesday? > > Ok Group ... tomorrow is my surgery and I'm starting to, well, > > to " freak out " just a bit. Guest guest
, A realisic approach. Thank you. You're quite right, of course. And a bit of humor too?! Thanks ... I needed that. And it reminds me to stock up on ChapStick!!! Thanks again, Carol > > Ok Group ... tomorrow is my surgery and I'm starting to, well, > > to " freak out " just a bit. Guest guest
Kev, Thanks. My Surgeon and I have already spoken about it and he said he would give me something when I arrived if I needed it. I'm arriving at the hospital at 8:30 but I won't be going into the OR until about 11. Thanks again, Carol > > > Ok Group ... tomorrow is my surgery and I'm starting to, well, > > > to " freak out " just a bit. Guest guest
Carol I found that Aquaphor worked really well on healing my lips after the surgery. You can buy it at any corner drug store. It is made by Eucerin. Your lips will be very sore and dry from being stretched so wide. They heal pretty quick though. > > > Ok Group ... tomorrow is my surgery and I'm starting to, well, > > > to " freak out " just a bit. Guest guest
, you are absolutely right. And hey -- surgeons don't do this stuff to kill off their patients! You can all get through it, and the wiring isn't forever (sez she, who didn't have to put up with it). But now I like the idea of pitching a tantrum whenever I get frustrated about something. You spose an almost-59-year-old can get away with that? Or even try? Best to all. C. > > Ok Group ... tomorrow is my surgery and I'm starting to, well, > > to " freak out " just a bit.
