Guest guest
For a couple weeks now, I’ve been having a real problem. I am approaching menopause (will have it full blown within a year or so) and have developed night sweats. It keeps me awake for hours. I get sweaty and hot and then cool down and start it all over again several times a night. It rarely happens during the day. It happens anywhere between 11:00 pm and 3:00am. Is anyone going through this and what do you do to alleviate the effects? What can I take that is SCD legal? I already take a lot of GLA (black currant and evening primrose oil). I’m out of ideas. Apparently black cohosh is good but I don’t know if it’s SCD legal as it isn’t on the list.Marilyn said that evening primrose oil helped her transition to menopause go very smoothly.Mara
Guest guest
Thanks Mara but I already take a lot of EPO. It did help me sleep…that was before I started having night sweats. Guest guest
I replied to your later post, sorry somehow I missed the original. I am no where near menopause but maybe what I wrote makes sense for you. Kat > > For a couple weeks now, I've been having a real problem. I confess that I've never used (long term) either borage or black current oil, just the EPO (which is what most of the studies were done on.) I reacted to both of them, but not the EPO. Keeping in mind that I'm over 200 pounds, I was using 12-15 grams (1000 mg) EPO, split in 4-5 doses around the clock. I had no trouble with hot flashes going through menopause -- my cycles had been gone for about two years when I was diagnosed with the cancer, and had my hysterectomy. They also removed the ovaries and Fallopian tubes at the same time. Apparently, my ovaries had remained somewhat active, because I started having hot flashes right after the surgery, even WITH my evening primrose. And then I discovered that the Motrin I was prescribed for pain, in addition to being formulated with lactose, cancelled out the effectiveness of the EPO! I would recommend keeping a diary of what you are taking on any given day, and note your symptoms. Then you can see how effective your proposed program is for you. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund Babette the Foundling Beagle
