Guest guest
I did some of this reading before choosing our car seat. is so small that I worry about turning her around, but other family members hate the idea of having her backwards. The ped agreed with me so we are keeping her rear facing until she turns 2. If I had known about this with my son, we would have kept him rear facing longer as well. Thanks for posting this even thought it is off topic. We all have little ones and want to keep them the safest as possible. Re: Extended rear facing - Carseat question..slightly off topic AAP recommendations See AAP Recommendations, paragraph 1. “If a car safety seat accommodates children rear facing to higher weights, for optimal protection, the child should remain rear facing until reaching the maximum weight for the car safety seat, as long as the top of the head is below the top of the seat back.3†Other links · MSNBC: Toddlers Should Face the Rear Longer · Rear-Facing Car Seats: What You Need to Know, by Kathleen Weber · SafetyBeltSafe Technical Information (Scroll down to the section on Rear-facing vs. forward-facing) · SafetyBeltSafe: Why must babies under one year of age ride facing the back of the car?
