Guest guest
Strip a leaf from the aloe plant you keep in the kitchen for misfortunes like this, and let the burned area keep soaking up the aloe gel. You want fresh from the plant, much more effective than in a bottle. One time I very stupidly grasped a curling iron at the hot end and I thought I had probably erased my fingerprints. I just kept putting aloe on for some time, like at least an hour. Then I switched to vitamin E. The burns were hardly noticeable the next day. Does anyone know a good scar cream - the kind that works on fresh (oven) burns to prevent them from turning into scars? TIA: Mara
Guest guest
Right, once you cut off a leaf, trim the thorny part off with a knife, squeeze out all gel or slit the leaf in half and place it on your burn. Depending on how bad it is, I will leave it on all night or keep reapplying if it's bottled gel. It's easier to do than type. When we were little, my brother stuck his hand in a lawn mower somehow and his fingers were literally hanging off. My mom and our babysitter wrapped his entire hand in aloe vera leaves then wrapped it to stay on. It never scarred; no fingers lost. We always keep it on the patio or inside close to the kitchen and I keep a bottle of it around just in case. I have been known to grab a handle straight out of the oven a few times. It helps on abrasions and cuts too. Blisters...amazing stuff.
