Guest guest
I can't remember if I complained about my knee or not but it was getting really stiff then it started getting pink. The next day it was red so I was off to the ER (Why doesn't this crap happen during office hours?) LOL I took my knitting thinking I'd get a few rows done while I waited. Boy was I wrong! Turns out I have MRSA and spent 6 days there. They tapped my knee and got 2 big syringes of yuck out of there. The bone doc was talking about slicing my knee open and scraping it out but it got well really quickly. I am on an antibiotic pump that needs the bag changed 3 times a week. That's the biggest bummer since the hospital is pretty far from here by bus. The ER at the closest hospital was so full they didn't have any wheelchairs for me to get in and I didn't bring mine. We ended up going 20 minutes by expressway down the road and I'm glad we did. I think the other one would have given me an antibiotic prescription and sent me home. My sugar was high but the nurse said it could be from the infection. We'll see after it's cleared up and I can get another fasting test. My bad cholesterol was up and they put me on Zocor? So now I have one more pill, 2 more docs and thousands of dollars in medical bills! It's always something with this disease all right. The nurse that hooked the pump up to my port explained all the messages it could show and they gave me a sheet on what to do & who to call. I had no problem with it until last night. The alarm kept going off and said down occlusion. I checked my hose for kinks and turned it back on and it kept going off again. I started to panic after 15 minutes of this & we kept calling the numbers and no one was in. I finally got a call back and checked the lines again but I hadn't checked the one to my port in front of the mirror. When I put my bra on because I was expecting company I hit the little clamp and had shut it off! Boy did I feel like a big dummy when I told the nurse what I had done. It's a good thing I'm not on oxygen! LOL Join our Sock Challenge for Orphans in Kazakhstan http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/Mittens_ for_Akkol/ grannylunatic@... Guest guest
Yikes! I sure hope you're feeling better now. I didn't know that those could even be symptoms of mrsa. Take care and I am glad you have nurses to help you with all of that. hugs S. 29:11, For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Guest guest
, you don't have to go to the hospital to get the bag changed, do you? I'm hoping a visiting nurse comes to you. Hope it continues to heal quickly. Guest guest
Thanks . The Cytoxin has my immune system so low I catch all kinds of crap and when I get a cut or something like that I guess from now on I'll put Neosporin and a bandaid over it! I still have to get the papers back to Doctor B so he can beg the drug company to cut me some slack so I can get Remicade. I wanted to tell everyone to watch those sores carefully and don't wait too long to get it looked at. Guest guest
Nobody mentioned a visiting nurse to me. I have to go to the medical building attached to the hospital early in the am so it might as well be the hospital. Most of the time I'm on the crazy sarc sleeping hours. I'll look into the visiting nurse with my infectious disease doc tomorrow when I get my bag changed. They don't do the medical interviews over the phone anymore and I have to apply for my medicare spend down I guess on Thursday. The hospital has no pull with the Daytripper van for handicapped people and I have to fill out paperwork and be physically evaluated for that one also. I also just went off on a bill collector wanting $7,000 in back medical bills. She started getting on me about some of the bills being from 2005 and I went off on her big time. Can't repeat what I told her except when I tried to explain I had a disease in my brain she plucked my last guitar string! LOL I think I would rate that call as a 10.5 on the Rosie Rant Scale! I have always heard nobody but the IRS could touch your disability check. Hope that's true!!! Guest guest
, I am so sorry, but you should have a home nurse visit you, like Rose said, you should not have to go to the ER that's crazy, it will cost less then an ER visit to have a home health nurse come to you. I hope you heal up fast, my positive thoughts are being sent your way. Marla I can't remember if I complained about my knee or not but it was getting really stiff then it started getting pink. Guest guest
It's my understanding that they can't take your disablity when that is your sole income. What a twit-- her tactics are beyond illegal-- get an attorney on this bureau, call a Legal Aide Program- they can advise you. Oh, and you might want to consider bankruptcy-- and get out from under those-- and add all the current stuff too. Take care-- and it sounds like you have MEDI-CAID-- NOT MEDICARE! MEDI-CAID IS STATE SPONSORED, MEDICARE IS FEDERAL. HUGE DIFFERENCE. THERE IS NO "SPEND-DOWN" WITH MEDICARE-- UNLESS YOU HAVE A SHARE OF COST FOR THE 2NDARY MEDI/MEDI. Guest guest
I have Medicare but when I ended up in the hospital in 06 the social worker at the hospital got me Medicaid help with those bills and I had a spenddown for awhile. Now I have another big hospital bill and need to apply and see if the bills I have after Medicare are high enough to qualify for the KY spenddown. At least that's how it worked in the past and what the hospital case workers recommended. I sure hope so.Join our Sock Challenge for Orphans in Kazakhstan http://groups. yahoo.com/ group/Mittens_ for_Akkol/ grannylunatic@...
