Guest guest
This is an interesting site, it is the terminology and brief explanation of the neurological problems and diseases. The "clonus" is actually "myoclonus" meaning "involuntary twitching of a group of muscles." http://www.disabled-world.com/artman/publish/neurological-m.shtml Myo= muscle clonus=twitching. It can be a sign of thyroid or pituatary lesions or adrenal issues. What was interesting was that not only is Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) used to control the spasms, but many articles related it to melatonin levels. They didn't state if it was low or high melatonin levels. The other component to "night" twitching is that one common factor was carbon dioxide retention--- meaning you don't breath well enough laying down to clear the co2 from your lungs. (another reason for the sleep study) Hope this helps, Tracie NS Co-owner/moderator
