Guest guest
Hi group, It has been quite around here the last week. I guess everyone is busy this time of year. I have been quite busy myself with appointments. I had my physical about two weeks ago and I was really discouraged by all the problems that I seemed to be facing. My protein in urine was high and and so was my blood pressure. It has been high for the last year since all of the weight gain so I have been placed on meds to control the blood pressure. I am feeling better without the headaches. It does run in my family so I had to keep it checked especially now with the steriods and weight gain. My doctor had schedule me for a glucose test but for some reason she called me back a week later and told me to cancel it. I don't know what that meant but I will ask her when I go back next week. She also said that she heard a heart murmur but none of my doctors ever said they heard that before so she is sending me to have an EKG. She also said that she heard something in my lungs and gave me a breathing treatment. I didn't notice anything with my breathing or didn't have a cough but she gave it to me anyway and prescribed an inhaler for times when I might have some breathing problems. So next week is my EKG and then I go back to see her the next day. I hope everything is alright with my heart. I know sometimes you can have sacoids in the heart but I never had a heart murmur before so I hope everything is ok. I have upped my exercise and currently walking 1 mile a day without getting out of breath on the treadmill at 3.2 speed and doing some cardio and resistance training three days a week. I really feel pretty good at the moment and I have tried to reduce my calorie and carb intake. I hope I can get this weight down without hurting anything from the increase exercise. Please pray for me as I have my EKG on Tuesday because I don't need anything else to go wrong and discourage me. Shauna in Atl.

Guest guest
Alice, have you tried MSM that Tracie always talks about for the joint pain, it really works, I just buy the capsules at the store, she gets powder, but I even have my husband on it, when he started complaining about his thumbs and fingers, (Arthritis big in his family) I had him start, he says he can really tell a difference, really works great for me. I get the shakes bad, especially if I'm tired, mostly just left side, which is my worse side. I hope they can do something to help. I find the Remicade very helpful for many things.  Good luck. Guest guest
Jackie and Greg, I love the classes with the older folks. They are so funny and I love to go and socialize with them in class. They are really hardworking senoirs when it comes to the exercise. Greg don't worry about keeping up with everyone. Go at your own pace. I just start and stop as I need to and some days I just skip all together. But I do feel much better after the workouts. Even just a walk. So keep going on the bike and you will begin to see a difference in how long you can go. I have been doing it for a year and a half and just now moving up my speed and elevation on the treadmill. But I do notice I am not as tired and out of breath. Shauna in atl.
Guest guest
Shauna, I always do my own pace. It is just I am use to harder work out then I can do now. I am pacing my self slowly trying to build back up. There is a natural park next to wear I live. I am going to strart walking the trails while battling that D---- Stationary bike after I get up to an hour on the stationary bike with out wrecking (falling off). I will then pull my bike out of storage and go ride those trails. I would love to get to point of running those trails but make ankles will no longer handle that. Too many jumps out of aircraft, to many cross country miles with 75lb pack. too many twist and sprains. So I will ride those trails.. I wish everyone a good work out and pain free days, my prayers and loving thought go out to all.. Guest guest
Greg,I just bought a used mountain bike this weekend at a garage sale. Got the bike, a brand new bike carrier for my car, still in the box, and a brand new frame bike pump, all for $30.00! Now, I just have to remember how to ride a bike. See if the old saying is true. Hope so.I'm gonna start out at the local park with grass on either side of the paths for crashing.. Kind of hard to ride on the street with myl .sarc vision. Wish me luck, and no skinned knees. Guest guest
Swedishbee, Of course I wish you luck. May you have clear vision and balance as you remember how to ride. I suggest a helmet for sure. Also some knee and elbow pads would be recommended at least until you are sure of your vision and balance. Again I do wish you luck and wish you well.
