Guest guest
I soooo know how you feel! :( I am so sorry. I was an aweful patient and felt like I was dying the first week then I got sick while wired the 3rd week and was caughing up flem...while wired. Let me say this. You NEED vitamins and minerals. I didn't like anything on my liquid diet BUT towards the end I had to take in something because I was blacking out and feeling like death. I had to use a syringe or a zip N sqeeze the entire time 5 1/2 weeks. Do you have a zip n squeeze? They are good for drinking. You need vitamins and calories. I drank whole milk with carnation instant breakfast, juice is good IF it doesn't irratate your teeth. Hmmm... capri sun (you can squeeze the juice out, box juices? Chicken broth may help the throat. Rinse or swish at least with salt water. I had thin thin potatoe soup no creamy or chunks in it. thin smoothies? Do you have someone to make you any of this?? I honestly didn't have energy to do a THING for myself. The thing that got me through alive was vanilla icecream blended with whole milk lots of whole milk and sometimes I would pour in cherry juice from jarred cherries. It gave it a kick. I know you feel like crap but you need to keep the mouth VERY clean brush and massage those stitches as much as possible. Rinse after every meal with your perscription mouthwash or salt water and take a liquid vitamin maybe. I hope you are ok hang in there!! Guest guest
I am also one week pre-op - plus one day today - You may want to call you doctor about the white spots. If you are on an antibiotic, like amoxycillin - it can cause thrush in the mouth. I just went thru the same thing - my doc gave me a rx to clear up the thrush. The rx made me feel nauseous for the day but cleared up the thrush in just the one day - my mouth feels soooo much better now. You can also eat yogurt to help clear the thrush but it may not work as fast. Also keeping your mouth clean is very important. After the fact, I found out that after taking the liquid amoxicillin, you need to brush, rinse w/salt water to get the antibiotic out of your mouth. Since my mouth is now clear, I am being very careful w/the hygiene issue. At first I was afraid to really move anything around in my mouth but I have been using my elec toothbrush, cleansing my tongue and rinsing w/salt water after each time I eat or drink anything. If I just drink a Boost or juice, then I at least rinse w/water. good luck - hang in there > > > > i am 1 week post op from upper jaw surgery and i am miserable! > > i have been running a fever and have been dehydrated. my throat hurts > > soo much that it is hard for me to drink. has anyone had problems like > > this? i need some help and support cuz every day i wake up feeling a > > little worse instead of beeter! > > > > > > --------------------------------- >
