Guest guest
I think it would really help if you knew beforehand what the stats where. I was told they were 70-80%, and for a lot of us that was true. All surgeons stats are not the same., all surgeries are not equal. If we had more information from the start, then we would at least have an opportunity to find the surgeon with the best stats. Guest guest
I might have looked into a different type of surgery. At that time I didn't know the difference between proximal and distal, and God knows, I had no idea about a " common channel " and how much it would be by-passed. Thankfully, these are things I've learned here, not from my surgeon. I don't blame him, I just wish I had all the facts to deal with when I was making my decision. I thought I did my research, apparently I was wrong. Oh, BTW, I am sure he didn't tell me that 50% would be considered a success. I also believe more and more is known about the surgery as time goes on. I did NOT get any good after care from my surgeon.... that has been and will be my one complaint. I got the same old... " chewable vits and tums. " I'm thankful every day that there are so many of us on here (and with such diverse experiences and opinions) because there is always something new to learn. " If you always do, what you always did, you will always get, what you always got! " Read that on someone's byline.
