helmet wearing during hot weather

Okay - here's where I need advice from those of you whose babies have worn their helmets in the summer months. We are traveling to central AZ during this coming week. 's only worn her helmet during mild to cold temperatures. Here in the Batlimore area, we are only now starting to get some early spring like weather (50s and 60s). will not be used to the 80s to 90s we will get in the Phonenix area.

I've heard that taking it off frequently and wiping off the head helps. I also brought plenty of summer clothes and will plan on dressing her very lightly. Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Also, we may have the chance to go swimming. I know that the helmet can't get wet and we shouldn't have her out of it for very long. Has anyone dealth with swimming during months while wearing the helmet? Should I just avoid it?
