Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I just had lower advancement yesterday the 6th. I feel pretty good so far, but I can feel the swelling increasing a bit, which is expected. The surgery was far less scary than I anticipated. I have a nagging question I hope someone can relate to. I was worried about my bite being placed correctly, because it was off sideways before surgery. I expressed my concerns to the ortho and surgeon many times. Both said it would be corrected with rotation during the lower advancement. But now after surgery, I still have the problem (I have to move my bottom jaw sideways to my left to get the teeth to fit). The surgeon says this is normal due to swelling. Has anyone else had this problem? Did your teeth shift into place after swelling? Or does orthodontics move them later? (I'm 40, so not as pliable as a kid). I don't have a splint, just two rubber bands. The surgeon said I didn't need one and that my placement went very well, but it's hard to believe with my teeth off to one side.
