Guest guest
> I just got copies of my lab results from March. My zinc level dropped from 775 on 8/6/02 (when I was not taking zinc supplements) to 71. I take 50 mg chelated zinc (puritan's pride). Am I not taking enough or could something in my diet/lifestyle have produced this drastic change om 8 months. ** zinc is better absorbed and utilized by our bodies when bound to picolinate, acetate, citrate or glycerate. zinc sulfate and chelates are not as well absorbed. signs of zinc deficiency include hair loss, mental disturbances, recurrent infections, acne, impaired night vision and impaired immune function. toxic effects can occur at levels greater than 150mg. daily over a period of time. zinc sulfate supplementation can result in gastrointestinal upset and nausea. rda is 19mg. zinc competes with copper, iron and calcium for absorption. zinc should be taken apart from fiber. sue info taken from encyclopedia of nutritional supplements. typically I see zinc in a 30 or 50mg. dose [not 19]
