Guest guest
Oh ! So sorry about the rough time! We had quite a bad first day and night in 's STARband ourselves a month or so ago. The only advice I can offer you is to take it slow, but steady. In order for him to get used to it, he has to wear it, but you don't have to be a slave to the helmet either. I promise you he absolutely will get used to it. I've not read any posts where a baby has had a helmet for two months and not gotten use to it. If anyone else has, don't tell yet! jk! I think you're on the right track. It was good, I think to take it off at 3am when he was screaming his head off. It sounds like he was in distress! Probably you too. Keep pluggin away and don't get too discouraged! It will all be worth it the first time the ortho measures and tells you how much progress he has already made! Hope it gets better soon! *8mo*tort resolved*lft plagio*STARband 5wks Conner *2yrs NC USA > > My son eric does not mind the helmet unless he is laying down in it, > like in his carseat, swing, or crib! when your kids got there helmet > did they sleep in it the first night? Guest guest
, My son, Brody, got his helmet on Tuesday and he just slept in it for the first time last night. He cried for about 10 minutes then fell asleep. I was lucky in that regard, however, I definitely can relate to your complaints about lying down or in the swing. Brody just wants to be held all day which is absolutely exhausting for me. I have a 4 year old to tend to and Brody is 5 months old and 17 pounds (HEAVY!). Anyway, I'm slowly but surely trying to get him used to the swing by letting him cry a little while he is in it before I remove him. I am holding him much more (poor thing) but I am using my exersaucer and bumbo seat more now than I did before. It makes since that they are more comfortable upright then lying down. My orthodist said if one day doesn't go well then revert to the day prior for the schedule: 1st day...1 hour on/1 hour off (rotate throughout the day) 2nd day...2 hours on/1 hour off 3rd day...4 hours on/1 hour off 4th day...8 hours on/1 hour off 5th day...23 hours on /1 hour off (bathtime) Tomorrow, we will be on the 23 hours on/1 hour off throughout the day. However, he has been a little fussy with naps and I have given him a break by taking the helmet off for a little while. Good luck and hope some of this helps! Guest guest
Hi - I'm sorry the first night was not a good one. It was probably a good idea to take it off some that you all could get some sleep. I don't think it's hurting him, he's just struggling to find a new comfortable position. I've heard memory foam might help, but I haven't used it myself. Fortunately, our son adapted the first night without a problem, but I would definitely say he's in the minority there. It could also be his body temp. Are you dressing him lighter? He may be too hot, so I would play around with his clothing to see what works best. Good luck tonight!
