It's not a matter of them having protein, it's a matter of them NOT having carbs. We have a hard time getting rid of the " fatty food is bad " dieting notion we had before -- pork rinds are not any fattier than fried potato chips, but the point is that potatoes are pure carbs, and we will gain with them, whereas pork rinds are just protein, no carbs (because they are meat, not starch), so they won't sabotage our weight loss. Most of us don't absorb fat well, but we assimilate carbs right to our waistlines. Stick with the pork rinds, and stay away from the chips -- believe me! I was eating chips and crackers for a while -- because they are carbs, they disappear in the pouch in no time, so you're never full, and while you can only eat a few ounces of dense protein foods, you can eat a whole bag of chips or a whole box of crackers and never really get filled up with anything except useless calories. I still have to fight off the carb cravings from junk like that. But I have to hide the pork rinds from my 16-year-old, or I don't get any! LOL! ~~ Lyn G
Guest guest
OK, I've never had pork rinds, but I'm willing to try them. I need something to keep me away from Goldfish, my latest junk food-of-the- day. Can you recommend a good brand, and what section of the store would I find them? BTW, I know some people also like beef jerky, but the ones I've tried are yucky...too salty or whatever. Thanks, in NJ *********************** > > > Stick with the pork rinds, and stay away from the chips -- believe me!
