Guest guest
<< Subject: Choosing to be healthy (was Digest Number 2276) I'd quarrel with your choice of words here: I didn't choose " not to be healthy " or to be fat, nor did any of us. We did choose to do something about it, a process which began with the surgery and continues every day. But as others have noted, I personally had to hit bottom before I was willing to take the leap of faith. /john>> I will stand by my words . Just like a druggie that makes the choice to take them, I did make unhealthy choices. And yes I did have to hit bottom too. But to get there I did make unhealthy choices. True I have the fat gene, true years of " dieting " messed up my metabolism. But honestly I am accountable for many of the choices I made along the way. When I made the choice to have surgery and have a tool to help me continue to make healthy choices I did a 360. Now I still make healthy choices (or sometimes not!) by what I put in my mouth. I recognize the accountability factor in our situation is a controversial topic-in my opinion it only goes so far because of factors beyond our control. But lets face it, we do make choices that help or hinder those factors. (not exercising prior to when we just plain couldn't, not eating sugar, etc).
