Guest guest
1. Are you male or female? Female 2. Starting Weight? 269.5 3. Weight now? 165.4 4. Surgery type and date? Open RNY, May 2, 2002 5. Amount bypassed if you know? don't know 6. Length of common channel if you know? don't know 7. Pros of your surgery? Having my life back again; being able to cross my legs and fit into booths; being able to work in the yard for a few hours and not being out of breath and tired; going from 6 medications to 1 within a matter of months (after being on blood pressure medication since 1980) 8. Cons of your surgery? None really for me. I was very lucky to not have any complications, so far (touch wood) 9. greatest joy: wearing clothes sizes that I haven't worn in 20 plus years and the looks and compliments my husband gives me (he's wonderful and I would not have survived physically/mentally/ emotionally without his support and love for the past 25 years!!) 10. greatest challenge: still being hungry 24/7 and fighting the urge to eat. When I know it is " head hunger " talking, I think of the clothes I am enjoying fitting into and then go do something else that will keep me from eating something I shouldn't really have. I am so very scared of any weight gain. I have come too far to lose the fight. I still want to lose another 35 lbs. Most times I win the battle with the head hunger, but not 100% of the time... 11. Your age at time of surgery? 45 12. Any advice to others? (about 5 lines if you can manage) Research, research, research. Listen to everyone that says it is a " tool " not the magic cure. Know everything you can about the surgery--the good and the bad. 13. Your surgery doc? Dr. Garner, town, SC (excellent surgeon, both general and bariatric--he's performed five surgeries on me between Oct. 2000 and May 2002) 14. Your regimen of food and exercise? (Please summarize in a short paragraph; aprx calories per day estimate/and minutes of what kind of exercise/and how often?) I try to stick to 1200-1300 per day. I try to stick to three meals a day and if I snack, I try to stick to a fruit or vegetable. Exercise- -I try for 3-4 times a week by riding an old fashioned no speed bicycle 2-3 miles each time. Will start swimming again this week. 15. Which of these adjuncts do you use? (hypnosis, prayer, affirmations, journal keeping, therapy, OA, meddies, etc.) Reading the daily digests of several of the OSSG yahoo groups. 16. What is your daily vitamin and mineral supplementation? two childrens chewable vitamins and two calcium chewables
