Guest guest
, I think I would be more worried about you if you weren't scared. It is surgery and all surgeries have risks. You are acting normal. I agree with Robin ....ask your surgeon questions. Your life is in his hands. You need to trust him/her. How many surgeries did he/she do? How many deaths and why did they die. How many success stories. Do be afraid to ask anything. Before my surgery I interviewed 3 surgeons. The first one did not have a support group. For me, he was out. The second treated me like he was doing me a favor by seeing me but he had a support group. The third was the one. He talked to me very candid. Told me all the success stories and the 1 that was not so successful and why. He had a support group that met every other week. They have clothing exchanges, fashion shows, protein parties and just plan old support. The Dr is at every support group meeting with the nutritionist to answer question. I felt he really cared and he was going to be around if I needed him. He made me feel comfortable but let me tell you I was still Scared. I went through all my evaluation/tests thinking, I don't have to have the surgery but just in case I do this will be done. It has been 10 1/2 week since my surgery. I started at alittle older than you, 5'8 " 270lbs. And today I am still 5'8 " but weigh 220. I was not always fat either. I meet my husband 20 years ago, we fell in love and go fat together. Now we are on the losing team together. Keep writing and reading, there is so much to learn. The more you know the more comfortable you will feel about your decision. Also all rny surgeries are not the same. Investigate this. I had the option of a silastic band or none. Ask and investigate. Know your operation.
