I agree -- in my experience, migraines are far worse than the pain

from surgery (I had upper + genio). Definitely some tightness and

soreness that came and went -- I got by mostly on ibuprofen and then

tylenol, but certainly took codeine for the first few days and then

the occasional vicodin after that. But on a scale from 1-10 (with 10

being excruciating pain), I'd say the worst the surgery pain ever got

for me was about a 4. (By contrast, I've had migraines I'd rank

around an 8.)

Katja,

Since my lower jaw surgery 3 weeks ago, I have been getting some major

migrane headaches. They have been the worse part of the pain for me. My

surgeon assures me that it is normal as I an tightly wired shut and

therefore clentching my jaws all the time. I have read others say they

had NO pain.... I had some. When my cheeks were swollen, they hurt to

be touched. There was no pain directly in my mouth.... but all of the

pain was really quite bareable from the surgery. On friday, they

removed my splint and replaced my wire with rubber bands and that has

been the worst pain yet. It's feels like when my orthodontist tightens

my wires, only about 2x and bad. A little advil makes it stop though.
