Guest guest
Les, One thing to keep in mind is that Primal Defense is not SCD-legal. The only legal probiotics are l. acidophilus and s. boulardii. Next, if you have some links on the reishi mushrooms and the rhodiola root, it would be helpful. Neither of those has been recommended as part of SCD, but unless the mushroom has polysaccharides or disaccharides or gluten in it, it should be SCD-legal. The root I would be much more cautious of -- roots very often (in addition to their active constituents) have the polysaccharides and other junk which we eliminate on SCD. And, there are plenty of people who have beat their gut issues. Some of us stay to teach. When I asked about the adaptogens, I was just wondering if they had been discussed while I was away. I was almost killed by incompetence in the allopathic system so this caused me to embrace CAM with a lot of enthusiasm. I need to make certain that I don't get too much into that while I'm on this board. The last thing I want to do is confuse those who are struggling to regain their health. To the best of my knowledge, we haven't discussed it while you've been away, but sometimes my brain can go on the blink. CAM? Let's put it this way: I struggled for 25 years with my gut issues. SCD resolved that. A jerk of a PCP missed my complex sleep apnea and my cancer. Fortunately, I had an excellent doc for the apnea, and found a spectacular website for anything connected to sleep disorders and CPAP therapy: CPAPTalk.Com. And, I took myself off to a gynecologist who, on diagnosing the cancer, referred me to a top mark oncologist. Every now and again, allopathic medicine has its uses. But -- it's up to us to know our bodies and not just follow along tamely like sheep. We have to know enough to know what questions of ask of our health care practitioners -- and when to acknowledge that we've come to them for advice (notice I said advice, not orders!) and that we would do well not to ignore their knowledge. I'm currently dealing with severe muscle pain, for instance. Took me eight weeks to see a rheumatologist. He did some blood work. Said, " Well, we know you're hurting, but we don't know why. Take some Tylenol. " Yeah. Right. I'm still researching where to go next. SCD, above all, is the foundation on which we build all of our other health care practices. Which is why this list is dedicated to the implementation of SCD in our daily lives. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
