I just got back from an unscheduled visit to my OD. I had my top

brackets put on last week, and the wires were digging into my cheeks

something awful. I went through almost 2 things of wax in 2 weeks

trying to subdue it. Then to top it off, I popped my bottom wire

loose eating an M & M. (Ooops!)

So I went today to get these issues fixed (I'm not due for my next

visit until May 16.) He decided to go ahead and change out both wires

while I was there. The beginner wire up top was apparently ready to

be changed already, and he hadn't changed the bottom one last time, so

it had been in place for about 7 weeks.

In the process, he asked where we stood on my surgery. I told him that

the oral surgeon had gotten approval for my surgery, but it was a

pre-approval and only valid until the end of the year. His response to

this was something along the lines of, " Well then, we'll have you

ready before the end of the year. Your teeth are moving well. No need

to give the insurance company an excuse to change their minds. "

Sooooo...yay!! The sooner I can get this done, the better. I'm not

sure how soon before the end of the year he's thinking...I'll ask at

my next appointment in four weeks.

But that's awesome news, because I've been thinking it would be at

least January before he'd say I was ready. So I'm pretty excited!

Who'd have ever thought anyone would be this excited about having jaw

surgery? :) I knew you guys would understand though, so I just wanted

to share.
