Guest guest
Judie, This was one thing I was mortified about. I had to have help like twice until they brought me my tongs. My husband bathed me everyday though and that was a treat. I felt more comfortable with him. ( not that I am modest) He would also put lotion on all over me and the powder stuff for my skin yeast infection. He was so great. He would also tidy my bed. The nurses really appreciated it too.He still is great most the time.LOL Love, Re: Two Questions > > > > > > > OMG! Guest guest
Who took care of you guys at home>>>> we spent a week in the motel in Portland and my angel who lives in Portland and works at the 7th day adventist hospital there (I met her online 2yrs ago) came to take care of us every night after work.....she made sure we had plenty of food, went shopping for us, made sure we had lots of drinking water, and visited etc and brought us homemade thanksgiving meal on turkey day.....so we were ok. Then we drove to Seattle and stayed 2 days with Mikes mom and from there drove home to Idaho. We felt pretty good by 10 days out!
Guest guest
I can answer #2. I've been using Tucks. They are soothing and cool. I still wear pads and I put a couple on the pad and it really helps. Micky Two Questions > I've been meaning to ask these questions but, for some > reason, never did: > > 1. Guest guest
Hi everyone I have two questions for you guys: the first one is, the right side of my jaw, whenever I stretch it, the joint really hurts. I'm almost 2.5 months post op, and I guess I figured that the pain part of this was all behind me by now. The left joint just feels a stretch, but the right hurts...this especially sucks because I'm so tired these days, I'm yawning and stretching it a lot, it's so painful. Does anyone else have this, is it normal? I'm worried I'm going to have permanent TMJ pain, and I haven't been able to get my mouth open more than 2.5 cm (from 4 cm before surgery). The other thing is, I think my surgeon didn't move my upper jaw up enough. I have *more* lip incompetence than before, about 1 or 2 mm, so not a lot, but I was really hoping before surgery that things would go in the other direction. Also, an average smile shows only my top teeth, and is the same, or gummier than before surgery. DId anyone else end up with more lip incompetance after surgery?? I don't know how to bring this up with my surgeon, I want to know if there's anything he can do This stuff isn't huge, I mean, I'm really happy with my teeth meeting properly, they look so great, and my chin looks better from genio too, but it's hard looking in the mirror, because everytime I look at my mouth I'm a little disappointed. I can't never look at my face again, so any other suggestions guys? Thanks -
Guest guest
Hi , I don't know if this has any value, but I figured I'd throw it out there.... I am not even two weeks out of surgery, so at this point I have no idea what the final outcome will be. Before surgery,I had the opposite of lip incompetence... my lips met and stuck out together like a duck or something... all due to a combination of problems. The two sides of my upper jaw were different. One side lower than the other, thus one " gummier " than the other. The other showed no gums, so it was brought down a little... I am definitely trying to adjust to seeing the gumline more when I smile. My smile is still very awkward since I am still very numb. And I seem to have a slight lip in competence too... I don't know and am hoping it is a result of residual swelling, because my swelling isn't completely gone at all at this point. But I know what you mean... I look in the mirror and am kind of worried. My lips used to meet and now they don't quite meet... I don't know!!! I would definitely bring it up to the surgeon. Just mention your concern that they don't meet and see what he has to say. Who knows? Oh! and yawning. I know!! I am so tired and yawning all the time and it's killing me. Yowie! I don't know how to not yawn but it is definitely unpleasant, and particularly unpleasant on one side more than the other. Again, this is causing you pain and discomfort. I would definitely mention this concern to your surgeon as well. If he doesn't know about it, he can't help you with it. Also mention about your limited opening... who knows what he might be able to tell you and how he might be able to help you with it! Anyway, I know this post isn't of much value since I am still so recently out of surgery, but I figured I'd post all the same. I know what you are feeling about your insecurities and reservations about your new appearance. I had a lot of assymetry I am very anxious to see how it was resolved along with hoping my lips will come together too.... Take care and let us know how it goes after you speak with your surgeon!!! Guest guest
One more thing.... If you still have braces, , your lips may lie down flatter against your teeth once the braces are off and that alone could make up the one or two mm different between them, allowing your lips finally to meet just right. Your surgeon may have taken that factor into account. Definitely ask!!!
