Guest guest
Hi everyone! First, I want to thank Diane for beginning this site. I'm less than 2 weeks= away from having my surgery, and finding support online was hard. But it was worth the wait = to find all the excellent ppl involved here. And I just wanted to introduce myself. My name's Mike, and I've always been a little heavy all my life. I'm 29, an= d the weight began to really pack on 4 years ago. I was extremely depressed, especially = after all the dieting, gym memberships (my wife and I went for an entire year, she shrunk= and I went nowhere.) It was a little comforting when I recently found out I had Hypogo= nadism—a major reason for my symptoms and gain. My heads been spinning with everythi= ng that I've been finding out about myself. It's very odd to have Dr's tell you that you= may have become a totally different person (emotionally and physically) if you hadn'= t been hit in the head with a bat at age 12 (true story). They say that's where my Hypogonadi= sm stems from—sharp blow to the head around age of puberty. I did go through puberty= (thank god) but slowly after that, my body and brain made less and less testosterone un= til, finally, about 5 years ago it stopped making it all together. Resulting in sudden we= ight gain, loss of muscle and bone mass. With this surgery, I'll lose the weight I could ne= ver do on my own, plus I'll be able to have Hormone therapy that will work (because I'll= be the size of a normal person.) Well, I have to get back to work. Thanks for listening everyone. I'll be ba= ck—and often! Mikey
