Guest guest
Terri, I agree with you, and I know, that we are all looking for a cure. With all the new members, one of the problems in the past was that anyone joining any of the groups was sent a private email by the folks from Marshall Protocol. Not only is this considered "spamming" as we are not allowed under Yahoo Groups Regulations to use another groups "member list" to promote our own personal agenda's-- but it is just bad manners. I could no more go over to another group and tell those members to come to this group. What does worry me, and as Terri has stated-- the MP is dangerous, for all the reasons that this wonderful article pointed out-- but if you researched Trevor Marshall-- PhD. You would see some very interesting history if you follow the links far enough. I can't go into detail-- but it's worth looking at the history of his various corporations. There is no magic cure for sarcoidosis. We can manage the symptoms-- and often times slow the progression. Diet, exercise to whatever level you can do-- (You may want to search by "pulmonary rehab" in our MESSAGE ARCHIVES) and getting as solid a balance on the vitamins and minerals that our bodies need. I've always found it interesting that Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) aka -- safer quinine; helps with alot of the sarc symptoms. Quinine as we knw was used for scurvy, a major problem going back to the settlers sailing across the ocean-- as they did not have enough Vit C (fruits and veges) to stay healthy. Quinine however, if taken in too high a dose would cause blindness-- so you can no longer buy it over the counter. If you are on Plaquenil, it is very important to stay on top of your ocular (eyes) health with exams each 6 months. Vit C being a huge wonderful natural anti-inflammatory, along with Calcium and Vit D being necessary for bone and depression health, and Magnesium for muscle relaxation-- can all be screwed up by sarc. In my mind, it seems that if we are not getting enough of these Vit and minerals- then our bodies are going to compensate via the starvation laws of the immune system. We all know that if we don't get enough fluids down, and are dehydrated, then the first couple of days of rebalancing are ones where our bodies store extra fluids (hands and feet swelling) until it realizes that it doesn't have to worry about getting fluids. The same is true with vitamins and minerals. If our bodies think that we are not getting enough, it's going to store these minerals in places where it doesn't belong. Hence, calcium deposits in the lungs, joints, muscles, kidneys, liver-- so that it has it for later. Prednisone puts our bodies into a false calcium deprivation mode, and for me-- my body thinks that it has to take every bit of the those nutrients from my bones-- and the bone pain becomes unbearable. We've all been in serious dehydration, and that leads to irregular heartbeats, exhaustion, muscle and joint pain, poor concentration-- because our bodies electrolytes are out of balance. We all know how the leg cramps can hit if you don't get enough potassium-- so these are the clues that our bodies send out. We just need to listen! Thanks again for sharing this very important article. I will try to do an email this next week on the various functions of vitamins and minerals and what works for inflammation, etc. Please be aware also that to go into Herbal medications to boost your immune system is also a dangerous approach to sarcoidosis. Your immune system is already in hyperdrive-- so the concept should be to regain a balance. Again, one of the most informative sites for Vitamin and Mineral info is www.arthritistoday.org. They put out an annual prescription drug issue, and an annual Vitamin and Mineral issue. It is the best $20 a year I spend. Take care, and don't be afraid to ask questions--and if you are being contacted privately by any other group or organization -- you can report this abuse to Yahoogroups. We can't do it for you-- you have to send the info and the email address to Yahoogroups directly.
