what kind of vinegar do you use? I made this and it is delicious! I made the full batch and have little containers of it in the freezer. I'm somewhat obsessed with butternut squash fries and this complements them perfectly. Thanks for posting. I was not optimistic I would like the taste (cinnamon? cloves? all spice?), but gave it a whirl anyway. It's really good! Took forever for it to cook down, but I'm glad I finally made it. It only took a few minutes to throw the ingredients in, and I checked in on it now and again, so it wasn't time consuming at all. Here's the recipe I used (only did a half batch though). > > http://scdadventures.blogspot.com/2007/09/ketchup.html > > So with the permission of Sharon J (thank you!), here is her recipe: > > 2 Cans of Tomato Juice (46 oz each) > 2 Cups Vinegar > 2 tsp. onion powder (homemade) > 8 tsp. salt > 1 tsp. all spice > 1 tsp ground cloves > 1 tsp. cinnamon > 1 tsp. garlic powder > 5 Tlb. honey > > Method: Pour Tomato juice in large pot and add the rest. Simmer for several hours, stirring occasionally (a splatter screen is useful here, because it will splatter quite a bit towards the end). It is done when it has the ketchup consistency you desire. > > > Holly > Crohn's > SCD 12/01/08 >
