Guest guest
On the subject of vaccines today this came to me on another group: wrote: Normally I am not one to push my political views on others because I believe that is a very personal decision. However, in the case of Senate Bill 1873 I feel we all have a stake in the outcome and need to take action in order to see that our rights as citizens are not removed from us based on a perceived need to have the right to produce health products quickly in the war on terror. Our children's vaccines are not involved in the war on terror and yet they are wrapped up in this bill which would exempt manufacturers from having any liability if something happens. Please review the bill carefully and contact your senator about your stand. The time you take now can save lives later. Chris Bernard Rimland, Ph.D., Director of the Autism Research Institute in San Diego, California, has sent me an urgent notice about Senate Bill 1873 which goes to a vote very soon - probably this week. I have looked into it, and it is astonishing!! It could change the entire landscape with regard to individual reimbursement in cases of product liability!! This bill would prevent parents from suing drug companies or doctors for ANY DAMAGE OR DEATH CAUSED BY VACCINATION. See it in their own words, in the Bill on page 30 of http://www.nationalautismassociation.org/pdf/biodefenseact.pdf Consider how this might be applied in the current situation with the Bird Flu vaccine under development. We have already seen a manufacturing error result in destruction of an entire year's supply of regular flu vaccinations. Could a worldwide " pandemic " AND elimination of product liability allow distribution of an untried and potentially harmful vaccine? Could it diminish the need for manufacturer safety testing? Could manufacturer responsibility for adverse event follow up be eliminated? Should the public and individuals bear the entire cost of adverse reactions, even if a product is defective? As I said, there is considerable pressure to pass this legislation quickly. I urge you to take some time immediately to consider if this bill is the best way to handle this complex situation or does it favor special interests at the cost of pubic safety and confidence.
