Guest guest
My daughter, Maddie, is scheduled to have a tenotomy next Friday. Any advice on keeping her comfortable after the procedure? Also, as a side note, just the thought of terminating a pregnancy because of clubfoot sickens me. How cruel and uneducated are these doctors? I didn't know anything about clubfoot when they discovered it in her ultrasound, and that thought never crossed my or the doctor's minds. Anyway, now that I've contributed my two cents, any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm so thankful to have this group to turn to for anything. It definitely makes this whole process easier. - Michele - 5/18/02 Maddie - 9/6/05 - bcf p.s. Anyone here from Massachusetts?
Guest guest
Hello Michele! I have had many tendon surgeries and I can tell you from personal experience that tendon surgeries are very mild. There is a " sunburn " like pain for a day or two, very easily addressed by any infant pain/fever medication. I wouldn't overmedicate. If she isn't fussy, I wouldn't medicate. I hope this helps.--- > > My daughter, Maddie, is scheduled to have a tenotomy next Friday. Any > advice on keeping her comfortable after the procedure? Guest guest
Michele, My daughter had the procedure at the U of Iowa at 5 months old under local anesthesia. (this was over 5 years ago) I just gave her one dose of baby Tylenol (regular Tylenol, not codiene) just prior to the procedure and maybe one more dose afterward. We had no issues whatsoever. Just try to keep her leg elevated. Hopefully you won't have any issues!!!!!!! & (3-16-00, lcf) > > My daughter, Maddie, is scheduled to have a tenotomy next Friday.
