Guest guest
I so agree Kori, I mean the old, typical AFO was a HUGE NO NO for club feet and still is! Yet here they're calling 's shoe an AFO and it's causing major confusion. What was wrong with calling it a FAB? That's what the damn thing is anyway and if insurance will pay for a Markell FAB why not a FAB? I do have concerns this duel-terminology is going to bite some people in the butt as doctors prescribe AFO's (the real ones) and stuff or get confused because most of the doctors don't know jack about FAB's anyway as we've proven here a million times (even some of the so-called Ponseti doctors dont' know jack about the system!) ...then some parents are going to say, " Hey my kid was treated with an AFO and did just fine " meaning they used the FAB but someone else will hear that and say well then my doctor prescribing an AFO is right when it's not the FAB it's the blasted AFO that doesn't work! Oiy! I just see us stepping one step foward and two steps back with mixing up the terms here. Not only do we risk more babies getting treated with the non-successful AFO with disasterous results, it seems to me eventually risks a loss of business as people who know AFO's don't work avoid using his wrongly-named AFO that is NOT an AFO it's a friggen FAB!!! My wore the REAL AFO, the one that phuked up his feet and my other son Everett wore the Ponseti FAB (um, afo???) that they're now calling an AFO with perfect results ......And anyone new here reading this is going to be more confused than ever! Having gone the true afo route though with those disasterous results I mentioned this really irks me they're calling this wonderful club foot brace a friggen afo after we've striven for years to convince folks not to use afo's on their cf kids. Speaking of cf kids, I have two I need to go put to bed, have a good weekend! s. ----- We're going to have a problem with this terminology now... The FAB AFO is NOT the standard AFO.
