Guest guest
Olga- Just an idea-would it work just to be the crib mattress on the floor?-there it wouldn't have any bars/rails to bang around on. My son is a mover and a shaker when he sleeps. We muffle the sound with a sleep sack(blanket). However, when he does outgrow his crib-I am thinking a mattress on the floor might be our best bet. Just a thought! kathleen mom to david bcf fab 12/7 > > Hello! > > We still have big problems with wearing DBB during sleeping. > Aleksi moves a lot when he is sleeping in DBB and his baby bed is not > enough for his. Guest guest
I'm forwarding this because it was sent to the list-owner instead of the list itself! Thanks for the input, Liz! Hello, My son is now 26 months and is a very restless sleeper. We gave up on his crib and went straight to one of our old thick queen size matress without the box spring. The matress is on the floor and is pushed to a corner. We then bought a bunch of standard pillows and long round pillows and laid them against the walls so that he does not hit the wall. For the other two-sides that don't have walls, we bought a railguard from Babies-R-Us. And also just put extra pillows on the edges to prevent him from falling off. One of our dream was to have our son run out to us after his nap but because of his clubfeet, we did not think it would be possible while he had his DBB. Well.. our dream did come true. Because the matress is low on the floor, Ian knows to turn around and scoot down by himself and crawls out of his room rather than running. We are so proud of him.... Initially, the matress looked funky on the floor but we found a frame that is stylish from IKEA that basically fits around the matress and it is only around 3 inches tall! (Kinda like a Japanese bed) We bought nice bright sheets and pillows to decorate his bed. Ian and his younger sister loves his bed now! I hope this helps. Take care, Liz and Ian
Guest guest
Hello, Actually I read about this in a Montessori book. My husband and I are thinking of putting our kids in Montessori preschool and elementary so I started reading about this. I can't remember the exact name of the book but it was about implementing some of Montessori's principles in your home. I remember reading about having the child sleep on a low mattress on the floor and of course baby-proofing everything else in the room! She had some logical sounding rationale for it (we still use cribs but have yet to contend with a DBB) so you might look into that if you are interested. Besides any reasons Montessori had for doing it, it might just make sleeping with the bar a whole lot easier! Good luck, Halley > >Reply-To: nosurgery4clubfoot >To: nosurgery4clubfoot >Subject: Re: beds for kids who wears DBB >Date: Mon, 07 Nov 2005 23:42:11 -0000 > >Olga- >Just an idea-would it work just to be the crib mattress on the >floor?-there it wouldn't have any bars/rails to bang around on.
