Guest guest
Hi E veryone I haven't been online for awhile as I have been busy with my son and the treatment. Three days ago we commenced the DBB treatment and what a difficult experience it has been. The first day we had to remove the brace as it was too small and giving my son considerable pain. Once we had the bar refitted, our son was so much happier but now he has developed pressure sores. I am really concerned as I don't want it to develop to an open wound. My husband and i have tried the tips from the " parent's guid to the Foot abduction brace " but still the pressure sores continue. I have taken off the shoes for nightime as he seemed in pain. I know that this is a big no no but I am not sure what to do. Any advice will be gladly taken. thanks so much.
Guest guest
, How close are you to the doctor? Probably the best thing to do is to have the doctor put on a maintenance cast to allow the sores to heal correctly and then start over in the brace with it set up correctly. Are you on the yahoo group CFPics? You could maybe share some pictures of the brace shoes and the sores so that other parents can maybe help if they've experienced similar issues. By the way, would you mind putting your doctor's information in the patient/physician database on this group's website? There aren't too many Aussie doctors to pick from, so if you're recommending this one whose name is not on Dr. P's website, it would be a good resource for other parents if the info was available in the database. Hang in there! & (3-16-00, lcf)
