Guest guest
I'm really not sure what I'm going to do now. Our insurance will not approve Grant (or Rose for that matter!) to be seen by Dr. Ponseti, so I will have to pay out of pocket. I heard back today, and I'm shocked! I don't think we can afford to pay out of pocket, so I'm not sure what my next step is going to be. A returning visit (for Rose) is $297. Which seems a bit steep. For a new patient visit it will be $341. If Dr. Ponseti decides to cast Grant it will be $448 for each leg. it would total up to over 1500 dollars. Is it worth a consult with Dr. Ponseti?? Grant has so many issues besides the clubfoot, and I'm starting to doubt whether I " need " to have Dr. Ponseti look at it or not. I know I WANT Dr. Ponseti to reassure me that the treatment is going well, but then I think what if he doesn't?? argh! Is the method successful with spina bifida? am I going to have to reassess my expectations of clubfoot treatment for Grant? Dr. Koop does seem to be having success, and I'm quite pleased with the progress so far, but I have my concerns and worries. In all of this I've been thinking how hard it is to see a Ponseti doctor after having seen Dr. Ponseti Himself. LOL We certainly can't afford to pay out of pocket. I can't believe it's 300 dollars just to see Rose! We'll come up with that, and possibly we can come up with the other 350, but wow. Just needed to unload that.
