Guest guest
I think we as a group sometimes disagree on this Dee Dee.....done wrong, yes, it can be very painful. Done right, I believe there is a " fear-factor " more than a pain-factor. The baby gets upset about getting held in place, having this cold stuff put on their leg, etc., and yet many babies sleep though it no problem. Dr. P wouldn't work on a crying baby, he's stop till it ws calm again. Calmness is in your best interest so the leg is relaxed. Try to plan for the baby to be hungry and eat through the procedure. s. Casting Is it painful when the babies get casted ? DeeDee California
Guest guest
Not if the doctor is doing it right. Isabella may cry a little because she doesn't realize what is going on. With our son's casting, he usually was asleep before the second leg was completed. This however did not occur with the first casting session but by number 3 and 4 he was use to the doctor, flirting with the assistants, and loving the attention he received(at 3 weeks old). To this day-he still hams it up for the " ladies " . I think the first sessions were harder on me as the parent than it was for david. What helped my husband and I was our parents-they came with us for the first 4 castings-after that, we felt confident enough to go without them. They still sometimes attend david's checkups which really helps. If your dil allows, I would suggest going with her as support for her and Isabella. Take care and goodluck monday! kathleen mom to david bcf fab 12/7 > > Is it painful when the babies get casted ? > > DeeDee > California > > >

I would think not ! Liz & have a big support system from both sides of the family. has grown up with this lifestyle, due to my son have spina bifida, he is only 3 years younger than . So I know always feels better when I am there with him, and he wants me there, even for the littlest " normal " things, so I know he needs me more for this. However he couldn't keep me away if he wanted to ! Liz & her family has really never dealt with anything like this, but they have learned over the years from being around our family. Liz comes from an incredible family, and I love each & everyone of them, as does . I know the support the kids get from both sides will make this journey much easier on them all. Guest guest
dee dee- postpartum and 4 days old was not a good combination for the first casting session! plus recovering from a c-section. it really really helped to have my mom and my husbands mom there-even my husband teared up a little(he had to leave the room at one point). it gets easier with time!! and a good doctor. kathleen > > In a message dated 11/10/2005 7:22:51 AM Pacific Standard Time, > leenernd@h... writes: > > I think the first sessions were harder on me as the > > parent than it was for david > I think that is probably how it will be for my son & dil.
