Nikki,

I know it's frustrating, but keep at it. It might actually have

nothing to do with the brace and just be coincidental. Every baby

is different. My 6 month old is still a terrible sleeper (no

clubfoot)....I remember at 11-12 weeks old she got into a spurt like

you're describing and I was *so tired* and thankful that I was still

on maternity leave thinking that I'd never have made it going back

to work at that point. I tried the swing, bouncy seat, car seat,

etc. too. It sounds like you're doing everything right. Keep

trying different strategies- it may be that it will just take time

for him to extend his sleeping pattern again...and then when he

starts teething or going through major growth spurts and milestones,

he'll be waking up again. That's just one maddening thing about

being a parent in not having the answers to sleep issues...but

having a brace just adds one more potential cause of problems into

the mix! Make sure that the distance between the inside edges of

the heels of the shoes is equal to the width of his shoulders. Oh,

and don't worry about him not getting enough " quality " sleep- that's

how babies operate. Some are cat-nappers catching 20 minute snoozes

and never sleeping for long periods of time! It's normal- and not

fair to that mommy that's for sure! :)

Hang in there- I'm yawning along with you-

& (3-16-00, left clubfoot)
