Guest guest
Hi All - Hayden went for his second casts today and it went really well, even better than I had hoped. Dr. Pirani looked at both of his feet and then informed me that the right is fully corrected - after JUST ONE CAST! He said it is ready for the tenotomy, but we now have to wait for the left to catch up first, so it will be in maintenance casts until then (most likely the end of the month). He said we may have to figure out why the left is so far behind the right because they shouldn't be that asymmetrical. In the meantime, while he is away in Uganda for two weeks, we will be in the hands of his trusty assistant and then I am really hoping that the appointment we have with Dr. Pirani on the 29th will be " the one " . I am very nervous about it, but at the same time I want to get to that point because it's another milestone in Hayden's treatment. Hayden was pretty good for the visit. He got a little fussy so I nursed him to sleep and then we got started. Unfortunately my hubby called on the cell right then and he woke up and got kind of irate for the first part of the first cast. I told Dr. P that it was still not the kind of crying he did at " the other place " and that I could handle a little bit of it. He very delicately told me that even though how I feel is important, it really wasn't about me - lol! He said that he wants to know if Hayden is crying because he is hurting him or pressing too hard or if he is just mad at being held onto. I said that since he calmed down fairly quickly, it was probably the latter as he was quite happy afterwards. So here we are. I am so glad I made the change and it was good to see such quick results. Dr. P said he was very pleased with the right foot. Yay!
