Guest guest
Hi everyone, I am guilty of being an avid lurker on this list. I love reading all about your experiences but I dont post very often unless I am really touched by something someone says. I saw someone recently say they appreciated the post op people reporting back in for updates on how they are feeling and how well the wt. is coming off. I realized that I also thirsted for those types of posts when I was pre op and shortly after. Its very encouraging and keeps your head in the right place. I am happy to report that today I am 90 lbs lighter. I had my surgery on 4-11-01 in Bowling Green Ohio with Dr. Hess. I had greenfield filter inserted at time of surgery due to my High BMI and past history with swelling in my legs. He didnt want to risk me throwing a clot. I had some sleep apnea problems and was intubated and in ICU from Tues the day of surgery until friday night.I dont really remember much but remember friday nite I woke up and demanded they let me go back to my regular room and a real bed. I must say that the care at Wood County Hospital is excellent. If someone is debating about having surgery there, I say GO FOR IT! Dr. Hess has really got those bariatric nurses trained on our needs as large sized people and they really show compassion and work hard to make us as comfy as possible. I had a fairly uneventful recovery. I had the usual gas problems. I should have walked more. You people who havent had your surgery yet...WALK! they will tell you to, and make you, but you really need to walk as much as possible, you will feel better, Sooner! I was off work for 7 weeks. I just have an office job so I handled it ok, I didnt have my energy level back yet but I could handle my desk job. Everyday I thank God for giving me my life back. At 450 lbs I really wasnt living. Now I'm on the way back down the scales and looking forward to losing more wt.(while still eating just about anything I want) Isnt this the life we've always dreamed of???! Life is Good! a Gossman 4*11*01 450 lbs 8*28*01 360 lbs Dr.Hess
