Guest guest
Wow! This is the first case I've ever heard of that didn't have sausage feet/legs. Did she have all the the other things i.e. the creases in the soles, high arch, the big toes sticking out? Thanks for sharing! WAs she treated by Dr Ponseti? kitergirl wrote: Hi My daughter is 30 mo and has been in mitchells since 18mo. She had skinny and flexible feet.and sever B clubfeet. my husband is a photo nut and took pics. of her feet during the whole process. Even looking back at the photos now that she developed 'atypical' we or her doctor did not see anything unusuall until after the tenenotomy. She may be a different presentation than normal because she has other issues; hypotonia. I thought I would share her slightly different presentation. Her feet are beautiful and well corected now. best wishes and Sadie > > Oh I didn't take it the wrong way. Guest guest
How IS sweet Sadie doing ? I don't have my old e-mail address anymore and I had lost your e-mail address! Many of you here don't know, but 4 of us went thru our children being the first ones diagnosed with atypical feet all together. When and her DH learned about it, I already had tickets booked to Iowa, and between the two doctors and two families we made a sort of circle, with Dr Ponseti working on Kai in Iowa then sending the knowledge to Dr Mosca who worked on Sadie in Seattle. FWIW, Kai's foot also developed the lateral and transverse crease AFTER the tenotomy. He had the heel crease when he was born (from the super-tight achilles). But Dr Mosca never suspected anything out of the ordinary in the pre-tentomy casting, and it only took three casts to get his foot ready for the tenotomy. He also doesn't have a fat leg ... in fact, it is a chicken leg! Angel Re: Atypical club feet???? She developed the crease after the tenotomy but not the big toe or a typical high arch. Her feet apear to have a high arch when the crease developed but after corection of the crease her feet are basically pretty flat. She was treated by DR Mosca in Seattle; after diagnosis by Dr. Ponseti via web pictures. He is very amazing! DR P. I just thought I'd share because we couldn't see the atypical thing coming. Even retrospectivly looking at pictures. I don't know if that is common. and Sadie > > > > > > > > > > was born on October 27 with bilateral club feet. Guest guest
Wow! I guess there really is no " norm " for this kind of thing. Gabe had dents...not creases. He never had transverse creases.Really the only way you could see the arch was through x-ray (although he had " thick " little sausage feet. His feet and legs were SOOOO fat! Gabe always had the heel creases; he also had another crease in the lower 1/3 of his calves. His Achilles was very tight, but aren't a good number of typical clubfeet? He had the jutting out big toes from birth too. Having said all this, what is it that classifies any of these feet atypical (or complex? Is there anything that all of them have in common -- a criteria that classifies them as " atypical " , or is it just ANYfoot that doesn't have the normal clubfoot presentation? For instance, what if Gabe only had the excess tissue to contend with rather than the " fatty " feet, the high arches ,and the creases. Would it still be atypical -- the fatty tissue alone would have prevented him form wearing Markell's... Angel Gray wrote: How IS sweet Sadie doing ?
