Guest guest
My little guy is currently on his 4th cast and is due to have another 1-2 casts prior to the tenotomy. I am wondering, just how " corrected " is the foot supposed to be before the tenotomy is done? Aside from the tight heel (which the tenotomy will correct hopefully), is the rest of the foot supposed to be straight or even over corrected? The Dr. said that the cast after the tenotomy will bring the foot up and out quite a bit. But how far " out " does the foot need to be prior to the tenotomy? Guest guest
If you check out the global health booklet(link is in the link sections)-it shows a progression of treatment so that you can see at least the state the casts should be in! hth, kathleen > > My little guy is currently on his 4th cast and is due to have another > 1-2 casts prior to the tenotomy. Guest guest
From what I understand the foot should be close to 60degrees dorsoflexed (over corrected). The foot will not be abducted at all as that is what the Tenotomy corrects. If you feel unsure, call Dr. Ponseti! He is a wonderful man, and will help you! --------------------------------- Yahoo! Guest guest
A note for all: dorsiflexion is not the overcorrection. Dorsiflexion is how far the toes can flex towards the shin. overcorrection is how far the foot is rotated outward.
