Guest guest
Hi all, I talked to my insurance company today. WLS is not covered unless it is medically necessary. If medically necessary, my PCP, sends in a request and documents the medical needs. It is then taken before the review board and a decision is made. I then asked if there were limitations on the type of WLS that might be covered. She said they take into review whatever the surgery requested by my PCP is. So, all in all, I think this sounds pretty good. I don't know if my co-morbidities are serious enough but will see next week. I meet with my PCP next week and want to be prepared. I have copied out a report on DS from Dr. Anthone's site and also the Clinical Guidelines from the NHLBI. I hope this helps me have an intelligent conversation with my doctor. I think to get the DS vs the RNY will be a miracle and I hope I can be creative enough to help it happen. Any suggestions are welcome. i
